A Breakthrough in Low-Carbon Laminated Glass

By combining AGC's own low-carbon glass with Eastman's Saflex™ LiteCarbon™ Clear interlayers, AGC Glass Europe has achieved unprecedented lower Global Warming Potential (GWP) values for laminated glass:

  • Low-Carbon Stratobel 33.1: 9.1 kg CO₂ eq./m²  (1)
  • Low-Carbon Stratobel 44.2: 12.9 kg CO₂ eq./m²  (1)

The Low-Carbon Stratobel range also incorporates a remarkable level of recycled materials. Low-Carbon Stratobel 33.1 and 44.2 achieve a 62% recycled content (2), combining recycled content from both the glass substrate and Eastman’s PVB interlayer.

This dual contribution from both glass and interlayer makes these products among the most circular laminated glass solutions available today.

Lower-Carbon PVB: Now Standard Across the Entire Range

The integration of lower-carbon PVB is no longer  optional; it is now the default specification across the full Low-Carbon Stratobel Clearlite range, available in all clear compositions (all thickness glass & PVB). This means architects, specifiers, glass processors, and installers can access best-in-class environmental performance without any additional complexity or lead time.

Full Transparency and Documentation

AGC Glass Europe is committed to providing complete environmental transparency:

  • Environmental Product Declarations (EPDs) are available for all laminated compositions directly through AGC's third party-verified EPD Generator(3).
The EPD from Eastman for the Saflex™ LiteCarbon™ Clear PVB has been integrated into the EPDs for AGC Low-Carbon Stratobel.
  • Easy access to consolidated data on embodied carbon equivalent CO2 (Global Warming Potential) and recycled content available on invoices or via a comprehensive report available on request.

These tools enable project teams to seamlessly integrate Low-Carbon Stratobel into green building certifications such as BREEAM, LEED and HQE.

(1)    GWP is expressed in kg CO₂eq./m² for Cradle to Gate (A1-A3) as defined in EN 15804+A2:2019;  these values are taken from AGC third-party verified EPD generated by AGC’s third-party verified EPD generator.

(2)    Recycled Content calculated in respect to ISO 14021, according to the Glass for Europe project position paper on a harmonized definition of recycled content in the flat glass sector, excluding any process and internal cullet.
